How long is right?
How many pages and words are tthe right number?
A question from a reader:
“I’m curious about your thoughts on word count and knowing when a novel and non-fiction book is done.”
I’ve published six novels and three books of nonfiction, with another novel coming out in early 2027.
I’ve also written an unpublished novel (which likely has no future), two unpublished memoirs (which I hope to publish someday soon), and an unpublished book of nonfiction (which will likely be published next year).
This is all to say I’ve faced this question many times.
